Flood Tolerant Crops
What Are They?
Flood tolerant crops as expected, are able to survive in the case of a flood. Through genetic modification they can be completely submerged underwater for about two to three weeks. Though they have limited usage as they are only effective in locations with actual flood risk, they are good for what they claim to do. They keep plants alive in case of a flood which could be very beneficial as a farmer would not lose all their crops if their land flooded.
Like salt tolerant crops, these crops are not as readily available as some other genetically modified crops may be. However, if the situation of a flood were to arise, then these crops would prove to be invaluable for farmers looking to make profit. Flood tolerant crops may have limited usage, but they are still a profitable type of crop.
Complications
Flood tolerant crops are probably have the most limited use out of any of the genetically modified crops. It could be useful in places where it might possibly flood, but it is useless everywhere else. Locations that don't flood or are far away from the water make this crop virtually impossible to make use of.
